Brazil Squad World Cup 2022

World Cup 2022 Preview: Group G – Brazil

Next up is a team with a story written in gold since the first edition of the World Cup, the most successful team in FIFA history, five-time champions; Brazil. The ‘Seleção’ have been to every edition of the international tournament, and Qatar 2022 will mark their 22nd appearance. The last time Brazil lifted the trophy was back in 2002, and since their frustrating attempt to be crowned on home soil in 2014, the team has evolved and welcomed a new generation of players, but their last entry at the 2018 World Cup was a mayor disappointment when they crashed and burned in the Quarterfinals. This time around, the ‘Verde-amarela’ are heavy favourites to win the tournament, and everything but lifting the trophy will be considered failure.

Group G will be oddly similar as last World Cup, featuring Brazil, Serbia, and Switzerland once again, this teams know each other, and maybe they still have some debts to settle. The first game for Brazil is going to be held on Thursday, November 24th, against Serbia and there’s no doubt the ‘Seleção’ will be ready to go. Match-day 2 will be a tougher test for Brazil as they take on Switzerland, a very dangerous team. Match-day 3 will be against the newest member of this group; Cameroon, but Brazil could be qualified already, and even tough we may see an alternative squad for this game, the depth of the ‘Seleção’ can surely make it 3 for 3 in the group stages.

Brazilian League Legendary Manager

The head coach for the ‘Verde-amarela’ is Brazilian manager Tite, who took on the senior squad back in 2016, and has experienced ups and downs. The former Corinthians and Internacional manager, won the Copa America in 2019, but failed to hold the South American Trophy two years later on their own turf. Being Brazil manager is not an easy job, since dealing with stars, call-ups, fans, and media has always been very demanding for the position. Tite had a very successful qualifying campaign with the ‘Seleção’ finishing 1st place, and remained undefeated on the 2022 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers.

Too Many Stars To Count

This Brazilian squad has more star power than any other team at the tournament, but there are still very important pieces that this squad needs to lean on in order to succeed at Qatar.

Captain and team leader, Thiago Silva (Chelsea) will once again lead this team into the World Cup, since his strength and commanding presence on the back has been very important for this group. Up front there are countless options, but one of the players that can put the team on his back is Neymar. The PSG attacker has been crucial for Brazil, and his experience is without a doubt one of the greatest assets this squad possesses.

The final squad list for Tite will be a tough one to figure out, but some of the stars that we expect to see at Qatar include: Allison, (GK, Liverpool), Militao (CB, Real Madrid), Casemiro (CM, Manchester United), Bruno Guimaraes (CM, Newcastle United), Vinicius Junior (FW, Real Madrid), and Roberto Firmino (FW, Liverpool), to name a few.

Trophy or Failure

Brazil has one of the most talented teams that we have seen in a very long time, and they have a definitive advantage over almost every squad in the World Cup, The ‘Seleção’ has its sights set upon the trophy, and only bringing the championship home will be enough for this star-studded team. The ‘Verde-amarela’ has an accessible group, and will face strong opposition in the knockout stages, but if this team can blend talent with experience, there is no doubt they can make it all the way to the final.
