Poland National Team 2022

World Cup 2022 Preview: Group C – Poland

The ‘White and Red’ makes its eight appearance at the world’s biggest international football stage, on which they made it all the way to third place twice (1974, 1982) during the team’s ‘golden era’. Nowadays, Poland is led by an elite striker with a pretty solid squad, but even tough they have a team that can compete at a high level, things have not turned out pretty well lately as they have not made it though the group stages in any of their last three World Cups.

Poland is going take part in group C and will be making its debut on Tuesday, November 22 against Mexico. This is probably going to be the European’s most important fixture since things can get a little complicated if they open with a loss. For match-day 2 the ‘White and Red’ will take on Saudi Arabia which may be their final chance to take points, as they will be having their toughest match of the group last. On match-day 3, Poland is taking on, not only favourites of the group, but one of the ‘candidates’ to win the tournament: Argentina. Things can go south very fast for the Polish, but they have a talented squad that will take on any challenge.

Last Minute Manager To Save The Day

Earlier this year, Czesław Michniewicz was appointed Poland’s National Team manager, after former coach Paulo Sousa took on another gig just three months before their crucial fixture in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification Playoffs. Michniewicz made an immediate impact, leading his team to a 2-0 win against Sweden to punch their ticket to Qatar. The Polish boss has plenty of experience in his home-country’s league, and recently won the Ekstraklasa with Legia Warsaw on 2021. Michniewicz has no previous World Cup experience, and has less than 10 games as Poland’s National Team manager.

Its no secret that this Polish team relies heavily on its biggest star, Robert Lewandoski, one of the best strikers in the world in the last decade. Lewandoski recent move to FC Barcelona has not been as expected, and still continues to adapt to his new club, nevertheless the super star will be one of the most important pieces of this team, and he will certainly be at the top of his game, since its very likely this will be his last World Cup.

Other key players that have contributed to the road to Qatar, features players such as Juventus duo; goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny and foward Arkadiusz Milik. The Polish team has talented players in all its lines, and will try to make use of their European experience.

Tough To Tell But Very Much In It

World Cup uncertainties have been a constant for this team on their recent appearances, so there is no real assessment to be made especially in a very strong group C. If Poland can find their footing early on, and Lewandoski brings his a-game, this team can make it to the next round. Mexico will be a very difficult test for the Polish, and if their rivals can hold off their star forward, they’ll have to make do against a complicated Saudi Arabia team, and an elite squad such as Argentina. The ‘White and Red’ have the talent, but their manager’s inexperience may prove to be a bigger burden than they expect.
