UCL Match-day 2: Best Bets For Wednesday

After a lucrative Match-day one, we stepped into the second round of the UCL feeling very confident (and lucky), but everything came crashing down on Tuesday night, after all of our 4 picks failed to hit. The worst thing was that the read of 3 out of 4 games was spot on, but it all went south after a series of unfortunate events destroyed our card. An early second half red card for Viktoria Plzen, a late winner for Liverpool (89’), and a frustrating evening for Barcelona was the recipe for disaster.

But that’s enough whining from my part, it’s time to leave our bad luck in the past, and make up for our mistakes, since we still have Wednesday to restore balance and make some money on this second round of the UCL.

Without further ado let’s break down some key fixtures that are catching our eyes for tonight’s games. We always like taking chances, so we usually don’t feature soft pays that can be plenty of risk and low reward.

The King of Europe: Underestimated (Again)

If we learned something from round one, is that Real Madrid is not to be messed with. How many times do we have to learn this lesson? Apparently not enough. Yes, we know in recent years the ‘Merengues’ have looked awful in the group stages and went on to ramp up their performance in the knockout stages. But I don’t think this year is the case, Real Madrid is a very seasoned, and well-oiled machine running like clockwork.

Madrid (At home) is the favorite, but not by much. The Spanish side faces off against RB Leipzig. A large tally of goals is expected for this match. We are going to go with the European Champions, and take advantage of a high scoring affair. (Real Madrid ML & o2.5)

La “Vecchia Signora” Gets To Sing

Juventus McKennie

Juventus was massively underrated when they faced Paris Saint-German on round one, and after the first half that seemed to be a correct assessment. (2-0 at HT) But after the break the Italian side came out inspired and well organized. Juventus pulled one back early on with a header by the American McKennie. The game balanced out and Juventus nearly found the equalizer. (2-1 FT). The “Bianconeri” are a very talented squad, and have plenty of options on the bench. They will certainly have the edge at home facing Portuguese side Benfica. Ride with the Italians. (Juventus ML +130)

The “Stars” Of Paris Get To Shine

After a cruising’ first half versus Juventus, Paris looked like the powerful giant everybody expects them to be, but on the second half the team looked like it ran out of gas. This will not be the case against an accessible opponent, Israeli side Maccabi Haifa. Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar (In no particular order) will take this opportunity to show off, and get as much goals as they can. (Paris Saint-German -2.5 +105)

Parlay?

Since yesterday we went down on our big roll, we feel like our luck is about to change, so we assembled a fun little parlay. Sprinkle your pocket change on this one. You have to get in the game, to be in the game. Or something like that. (Chelsea, Juventus, Paris S.G., Manchester City, Real Madrid, Napoli ML +1000)
