Santi Ormeño Being Dropped At Chivas Means Macias Is Ready

Santi Ormeño Being Dropped At Chivas Means Macias Is Ready?

It’s been quite an eventful last few months for Santi Ormeño. He scored a couple of goals in the preseason for Chivas, and when it was announced that Angel Zaldivar was going to be the number 9 that would leave the club it seemed like he was safe. A week into the season though it seems like he’s been informed by Fernando Hierro, and manager Paunovic that they don’t want him at the club anymore.

There could be a couple of reasons why he’s suddenly expendable, and he wasn’t just a week ago. Two potential reasons would actually be great news for Chivas. Either Jose Juan Macias is going to be ready to play pretty soon. For some reason he’s not liked by Chivas fans; perhaps it’s the love-hate relationship that he’s had with the club. In the dismal Leaño days though when he came back from Getafe he was the only offensive presence the team had at one point. Scoring multiple goals in very few minutes. The other good news reason why Ormeño is expendable would be because Paunovic sees a lot of promise in Daniel Rios.

As news has come out that Ormeño is leaving the club there’s been certain speculation that it’s actually his off the field antics that are forcing Chivas’ hand. We’ll get to those here in a bit!

Ormeño Was On Acapulco Shore?

There’s a rumor going around that Ormeño was featured on the popular MTV Latin America reality show Acapulco Shore. The show is essentially a spin-off from the MTV USA show Jersey shore. If you haven’t seen the show it’s just about a group of young people who live together go out to clubs and hook up. So essentially, there’s a rumor that one of the girls on the show hooked up with Santi Ormeño and that was aired on MTV.

We looked at the footage, and we can’t say definitively whether or not the guy featured on the show was Ormeño. That being said this would be the second-high profile instance in which Ormeño is seen out and about partying in public. It’s a tough situation for footballers in the sense that it’s hard for them to have a private life. Particularly when it comes to going out to very public places. Perhaps Hierro and Paunovic just think that what they’re getting from Ormeño on the field is not enough to be able to handle the distractions that he’s known to create with his off the field antics. That may even be an unfair assessment because we’re not sure if it was Ormeño in Acapulco Shore.

With or Without Ormeño Chivas’ Offense Looks Decent

Looking at things from a purely on the field perspective the Chivas offense looks decent. If they can get some type of production from Daniel Rios, Macias or whoever they decide to put up front this team can really compete. Both Alexis Vega, and Pocho Guzman can serve as great shadow strikers. They’ve been known for scoring goals from that false nine position or from the wing. So really when you have that you can make due with a number 9 that can stretch the defense and open up holes for players coming from behind to take shots on goal. Even Isaac Brizuela can get in on the action there.

With that in mind it could be argued that Chivas doesn’t really need a number 9 that puts up 10 goals this season to be able to be successful. That’s another one of the reasons why the team seems ok with allowing Ormeño to walk. Even if the story about him being trouble off the field is fabricated.
