Picks For Liga MX’s Weekend Games Matchday 16 – Betting Odds

The season is just about ready to wrap up with matchday 16 getting played this weekend. We still have a couple of makeup games that need to be played before we ultimately get to the last matchday of the season. This weekend though the big game that people are going to be talking about is “El Clasico” Club America vs Chivas. There is actually a line that we like in that particular game. If you make the pick quickly you may be able to get more favorable odds.

For the most part we don’t love to pick big favorites. This week though there’s a matchup that we like with a heavy favorite. It’s basically a title contender against a team that has given up on the season, so that looks like the safest bet of the week. You know Liga MX though expect the unexpected. Anyway, here are the games that we picked this weekend!

Take Monterrey Over Atlas

We just referenced this game as the only big favorite that we’re going to be taking this week. Last time we checked Monterrey is favored with a -188 line. That’s quite the number, but at this point Atlas seems to have given up on the season. They even lost to New York City FC during the week even though they had rested their starters. The 2 time defending champions have come crashing down to earth. They are virtually dead and buried at this point.

Chivas & Club America Play To A Draw

This may very well be the most entertaining clasico game in the last few years. Every single time a game like this comes up people in mainstream media love talking about how you can’t pick favorites, and results up to that point don’t matter. You know what usually ends up happening in these games? They end in a draw! That’s what we’re hoping for here because it pays well with a line of +260.

Pumas & Cruz Azul Also Even Things Up

Pumas and Cruz Azul have also built up a rivalry of their own in the last few years. Going back to the 4-0 wins that each team had in a controversial Pumas win in the playoffs a couple of years ago. In this instance both teams are coming in needing a win. Cruz Azul’s victory over Leon was  not enough to ensure them a spot in the top 12 to make the playoffs. With so much tension on both sides we think it will all even out and end in a draw which pays +260 a very interesting line for sure.

Love Pachuca Getting A Positive Line In San Luis

Yes Pachuca are coming off a bad loss, and they burned us in our last picks article. It’s because of this loss that they are getting a favorable +100 line against San Luis on the road. Pachuca is one of the best teams in Liga MX. It doesn’t seem like San Luis can really compete for possession with that loaded Pachuca midfield. We’re picking the Tuzos to bounce back and win the game.

Necaxa Feasts On Tijuana

We’d love this pick if Necaxa had been a lot more consistent throughout the tournament. Still, they are getting a very favorable +220 line on the road in Tijuana. They’ll have to deal with the awful turf field in the world’s busiest border town, but just like Atlas, it seems like Tijuana has given up on the season. It’s kind of a shame because we expected this team to compete a lot more this year. That hasn’t been the case, and Necaxa can take advantage of that to pick up some much-needed points for them.
