Pachuca’s Luis Chavez Reportedly Headed To Porto For 5 Million

Pachuca’s Luis Chavez Reportedly Headed To Porto For 5 Million

Pachuca just won the Liga MX championship last night, and that quickly Luis Chavez is already rumored to be heading out of the club. The 26 year old isn’t exactly a new face in Mexican soccer, he’d been around the block with different Liga MX teams including those in the expansion or second division league before settling into a major role in Memo Alhamada’s squad. The central midfielder is rumored to be featured heavily in Tata Martino’s Mexico team that will participate in the World Cup. Before other teams get a crack at him Porto is looking to snatch him up.

This morning multiple sources reported that Pachuca, and Primeira Liga side Porto had reached an agreement worth about 5 million dollars to send Chavez to Europe after the World Cup. Reports also indicate that Porto were not the only interested party. With teams in Spain, and the Netherlands also in the running for Chavez’s services. How many players could this Pachuca team lose after winning the title?

Is This 100% Confirmed News Or Just Smoke and Mirrors?

Luis Chavez for Mexico

As we mentioned there are multiple reports indicating that an agreement has taken place. When it comes to transfers though we can’t really say that something is certain until the player has passed his physical and signed on the dotted line for a new club. We’ve seen a ton of deals fall through at the last minute. For Chavez’s sake let’s hope that’s not the case this time around.

Does Chavez have a chance to start for Porto if he does in fact end up there? The easy answer is yes, and there are actually quite a few reasons to validate this. His competition for a starting role in that Porto central midfield will be a couple of former Liga MX players! Stephen Eustaquio, who had a brief and injury riddled time at Cruz Azul is in that midfield. As is, former Club America player Matheus Uribe.

Don’t sleep on the possibility of Uribe coming back to Liga MX. Just last week we reported that Club America had actually sued Porto over the signings of both Uribe, and Agustin Marchesin. Porto was ordered to pay Club America around $800,000 plus around $600,000 in interest payments. The negotiations between those two clubs seem to be ongoing; it wouldn’t be odd to see a player be involved in the payment.

Chavez Is Not The Only Pachuca Player That Had The Scouts’ Eyes During The LigaMX Playoffs

The rumors surrounding Pachuca players, and their potential departures to Europe did not stop at Luis Chavez. Other reports indicated that there were scouts from Dutch teams looking at Pachuca right back Kevin Alvarez. Alvarez is likely to see action with the Mexican National team at the upcoming World Cup, and it looks like his future in Europe regardless of what goes down. Even if one of the Dutch teams that were scouting him over the Liga MX playoffs don’t end up signing him he could be another player that Pachuca sends to its sister team Real Oviedo in Spain.

A couple of Mexican players have made their way to Real Oviedo in Spain already including the gem of the Mexican National team Marcelo Flores. As well as Alvarez’s former teammate Daniel Aceves at left back. Flores is not seeing the field as consistently as he’d like, meanwhile Aceves has picked up 2 consecutive starts. The team is not doing so well though currently occupying the 18th spot in the standings. Is Grupo Pachuca going to look to send even more Mexican players to the Spanish second division to try and help out their squad or are they seeing these results as an indication that they maybe shouldn’t?
