For second consecutive game, talented Mexican centre-back Johan Vazquez was included in the starting XI for U.S. Cremonese. Vazquez played 90 minutes once again for his Serie A team, which is incredible news for the defender, who had been left out of the squad for the mayor part of the first half of the season.

Ballardini Trusts Him

Manager Davide Ballardini, who coached Vazquez in Genoa, was recently appointed manager for U.S. Cremonese after the team sacked Alvini, who had a terrible run with the Lombardian team, who currenlty sits dead last in the Serie A table, with only 7 points (No wins this season).

Ballardini has been trusted with an incredible difficult task: Save U.S. Cremonese form relegation. There is no time to waste, and the italian manager has made changes already, which fortunately for Johan Vazquez, those include him.

The new manager has already made a difference, since last week in the Coppa Italia, U.S. Cremonese delivered a mayor upset as they knocked out of the tournament current Serie A leaders Napoli. In the aforementioned game, Vazquez had an incredible comeback, playing 120 minutes, and even scored the first penalty kick of the series for his team, which means Ballardini has a lot of trust in the Mexican defender.

Work To Be Done

Being out of limbo, Vazquez urgently needs playing time so he can find top form once again and help his team avoid relegation, and finding an opening in the starting XI is a great starting point for the Mexican who has had a difficult tenure at Cremonese.

If Vazquez can maintain his level there’s no question he’ll return to the starting XI for Mexico’s National Team, since even though he made the 26-player squad for Qatar, he didn’t see any playing time in the 2022 World Cup.

There’s a lot of potential in Vazquez and he is an important piece for the future of his national team, so it’s great news he once again found playing time in Europe.
