Jaime Ordiales Admits The Mexico National Team Doesn’t Know What Tecatito Corona’s Current Condition Is

Tata Martino still hopes that Tecatito Corona can make it back in time for the World Cup. However, it seems like the Mexican National Team is pretty much in the blind when it comes to Tecatito’s current condition. Sevilla denied Mexico’s request to have Corona rehab with the national team instead of the Spanish club. Jaime Ordiales, the new sporting director of Mexican national teams recently told reporters that the medical staff of the Mexican national team would not be able to evaluate Tecatito personally until he was officially released by Sevilla on November 12th.

Going back to the days when Julen Lopetegui was the head coach at Sevilla he had mentioned that the hope was that Corona would be ready to play for them in January. It’s been widely speculated that Sevilla have denied the request by the Mexican National team to have Tecatito rehab with them because they fear Mexico is going to put him out whether he’s ready or not. We may actually see that exact scenario play out with Raul Jimenez, whom Ordiales also talked about!

Will Tecatito Be Ready For The World Cup?

All signs point to this being a no, but Tata Martino seems hell bent on making sure that Tecatito plays in the World Cup. The whole issue between the Mexican National team and Sevilla seems to be that the team doesn’t want him to play the World Cup. However, Martino insists that there’s hope. As things stand Corona would be reaching the World Cup after not playing a game in months. The nature of the injury also makes things much more difficult. Sevilla don’t want him to put too much stress on that fractured tibia to make sure that it heals accordingly. Tecatito is not the youngest player on the squad, and aggravating an injury like the one he had could mean the end of his career.

What Martino may be thinking though is that Corona is perhaps his best player all things considered. He’d love to have him on the squad even if it’s just for emergency situations or late game scenarios. So he’s going to push to have him on the field. As we mentioned that’s exactly what Sevilla are looking to avoid. Sevilla wants Tecatito to be ready for the second half of the season. Looking at things from afar, this seems to be the most reasonable approach when dealing with such a severe injury. We’ll have to wait until the 12th to see what the final decision on this case happens to be.

How Are Things Going With Raul Jimenez?

Is Raul Jimenez Going To Be Ready For The World Cup?

The Raul Jimenez story seems to be similar, but could have a completely different outcome. Wolves has been permissive allowing Raul to travel to Mexico in all of the international break dates and continue his rehab with the national team. At this point it seems like Wolves has actually lost all hope with Jimenez, which is the sad part of the ordeal. He seems to be an afterthought at Wolves when not too long ago he was the franchise player.

It’s been about a month and change in which Raul has seemingly put himself under the care of national team doctors. Although within Mexico they claim that they send videos of Raul’s rehab program back to Wolves on a daily basis when he’s with them. Today Raul was able to do a lot more work with Wolves than he has been able to do in months! As we mentioned in other stories covering the Raul saga, Mexican doctors seem confident that they’ll be able to get the swelling down in order to allow Jimenez to play in the World Cup. There’s still a ton of doubt when it comes to how effective Jimenez would be having not played a game in quite a bit of time either. If we had to make a bet it very well might be that Jimenez is in, and Tecatito is out!
