Cata Dominguez Needs To Be Cut From His Team

This week has been a tough one in Mexico’s Northwestern state of Sinaloa, after a huge wave of organized crime hit several cities throughout the state as retaliation of the capture of a powerful drug lord. Sinaloa has been in high alert the last few days, and even the Mazatlan FC match against Leon, was postponed due to the violence that has struck the state.

But even after the news broke out, some Liga MX players have not risen to the occasion.

Lack Of Better Judgement

During the weekend, concerning pictures emerged on social media regarding Cruz Azul’s infamous player, Julio Cesar ‘Cata’ Dominguez, who posted pictures of his young son’s birthday party, which had a ‘Narco’ theme. Which is terrible on so many levels. Not only are people in Mexico going through tough times, but witnessing children playing with guns, and role-playing organized crime is spine-chilling and sad. As a result, fans and media around Liga MX have reacted, and there’s a lot to think about regarding this unfortunate news.

Julio Dominguez along with several Cruz Azul teammates were spotted in the aforementioned pictures, which makes the situation even more delicate. Not only are they full grown adults who are supposed to set an example, but as footballers, a lot of children look up to players, and celebrating violence is some of the worst news we had recently regarding off-field football stories.

Liga MX And Cruz Azul Has To Take Action

The Mexican Federation has already been informed about this unfortunate events, and not only do they have to make a clear stand, they need to set an example, and take serious action against the player and the club. Since this behaviour is just unacceptable from any player, as they hold an extraordinary responsibility as professionals and role-models.

Cruz Azul needs to take serious action as well against their player. Not only has ‘Cata’ been terrible for the team last few seasons, but such atrocious behaviour needs to hold severe consequences for the good of the club, and the league.

This conduct from footballers should not be accepted, as the beautiful game has always been about bringing people together and build a better world and future for all.
