Brandon Vazquez & “Mudo” Aguirre Are On Fernando Hierro’s Radar At Chivas

Brandon Vazquez & “Mudo” Aguirre Are On Fernando Hierro’s Radar At Chivas

It’s no secret that Chivas needs to look for a striker for the upcoming season. Neither Angel Zaldivar nor Santiago Ormeño provided consistency at the position. The one positive is that Jose Juan Macias is coming back from injury. Although, it’s certainly not a sure bet that he’ll be ready for week 1 of next season. Even if he stays on the roster it wouldn’t be surprising to see either Zaldivar or Ormeño dropped. There are already rumors out there that Chivas is looking to bring on a couple of players to serve as the number one option at the number 9 spot. How realistic are the signings of Brandon Vazquez, and “Mudo” Aguirre? If they do arrive can they have an impact on the team?

Why Brandon Vazquez Should Not Touch Chivas With A 10-Foot Pole

Brandon Vazquez has had a promising start to his career in MLS, and there was even talk that European clubs were looking to sign the youngster. At this point though, nothing has materialized. Therefore, Cincinnati could open to working out a deal with Chivas. According to rumors there have already been talks between Chivas and Cincinnati. Presumably those talks were conducted on the Chivas side by Ricardo Pelaez. At the time it was said that the MLS side was asking for too much money. Maybe Fernando Hierro wants to give it another go, but Vazquez probably shouldn’t want to go to Chivas.

Vazquez at Chivas would be under media scrutiny from the word go. Something that he certainly does not have in MLS at all playing in a small market team. Since Chivas would have to pay a ton of money to get him he wouldn’t have an easy path to European top leagues from Chivas. Although Chivas players have gone on to play for European teams the MLS-Europe jump seems an easier one to make.

“Mudo” Aguirre Could Actually Be A Good Addition To The Squad

Unlike Brandon Vazquez, “Mudo” Aguirre would have a better idea of what he’s getting into for starters. The second thing is, he’s one of those fighting strikers that maybe doesn’t find the back of the net as much, but he can create a ton of chances for his teammates. With the likes of Alexis Vega, and Roberto Alvarado on the team already that seems to be a good mix. Of course, it’s Chivas, and if he doesn’t score enough goals that’s going to be a problem sooner rather than later. In the grand scheme of things though it just seems to make more sense to bring Mudo Aguirre on. Even if Brandon Vazquez has more potential.

Chivas Liga Mx

This is not an effort to downplay success in the MLS, but we can’t necessarily say that MLS success directly translates to success to Liga MX success. It could be argued that Vazquez has more, and better options on the horizon. While Aguirre’s best chance is to claim a spot in Chivas.

Does This Mean The Chicharito Option Is Not A Possibility?

Nothing is set in stone at this point. The Chicharito possibility actually depends more on Luis Suárez, and his potential signing with LA Galaxy. The rumor is that Suarez is ready to go to LA after the World Cup, and that the Galaxy want to clear some money to bring him on. That would mean getting rid of Chicharito. The thing that always “blocked” Chicharito from coming back to Chivas was the money factor. If he gets dropped by LA Galaxy there’s no guarantee that another MLS team will likely offer him the same amount to come play for them. If Chivas steps in, and offers 2 or 3 million dollars a year to a Chicharito who would arrive in Guadalajara on a free transfer, there’s hope!
